Sinopse:

Dois anos após os eventos de Mortal Kombat, com a derrota de Shao Kahn e as barreiras entre os reinos quebradas, Shinnok ataca a Terra com seu exército de demônios e com a ajuda de Quan Chi que ressuscitou os guerreiros mortos nas batalhas do game anterior e os transformou em espectros que obedecem suas ordens. Synopsis:
